Annual Winter Feature Decoy & Sporting Art Auction 2026

Record Duck Call Sales Continue  -  January 24th, 2026

Our January 24th Winter Feature Decoy & Sporting Art auction provided a diverse offering of contemporary and antique decoys, duck calls, and fish decoys.  Including a variety of decorative carvings.

The sale saw at least three new call records set with renowned call maker Claude Stone (1888-1973) of Hornersville, MO taking the top spot.  His record set and broke twice, with the new high water mark coming in at $7,320 for his checkered call.  Claude's smooth barrel call performed well reaching $5,640, more than doubling the prior high sale price for a smooth call of his.  Other notable call auction records set were by J.D. Costner at $3,120 and Ottis 'Red' Boyette at $2,640.  Also well sold was a swimming bluewing teal drake by Jim Schmiedlin for $8,700.  In addition to strong contemporary sales, a single decorative greenwing teal hen by Leo McIntosh sold for $4,500, one of the highest prices paid for a single piece by him.  Quality fish decoys by Oscar Peterson and Ken Bruning did incredibly well with an Oscar Peterson brook trout selling for $3,250 and a Ken Bruning brook trout selling for $3,000.
In the antique decoy section, a world auction record was set for Walter Sellers at $7,200.  The auction rounded out with a $8,700 Elmer Crowell Black Duck, which had sold for nearly half that at auction just a few years earlier.
