Record Setting Sale for Louisiana - September 20th, 2025
Our September 20th Fall Feature Decoy & Sporting Art auction marked our most important sale to date setting at least 7 world auction records! The sale brought strong success to over 90% of our lots proving again that our limited volume, high focus auctions, allow for more attention to be placed on each lot - in turn providing a more enjoyable auction for our bidders and a better return for our consignors.
We've begun our diversification into new regions and areas of sporting collectibles, setting auction records in each! The sales top lot was an exceptional fresh to market duck call by Pop Pickle of Otwell, AR, which also set an auction record for his calls at $16,200. The next three auction records came out of the Lew Heard collection of fresh to market Louisiana Bluewing Teal. Beginning with Rudy Lecompte at $4,440, followed by Earl Pierce at $3,480 and Cal Kingsmill at $2,750. It was a great day for Contemporary Louisiana Decoys and a great way to kick off the news of our partnership with the South Louisiana Wildfowl Carvers. We've proudly reset the auction record for a Marv Meyer duck call at $870, a record we've set and topped three times in the past year. Our final confirmed auction records occurred in the 'Wooden Boat' market, a category we are excited to be representing items in! We set an American Boat Oar Company Page Brand Canoe Paddle record at $1,200. Followed by an original matched pair of canoe seats from the W.F. Tubbs 'Sno Shu' Company, sold through the VL&A Sporting Goods store in Chicago, IL selling for $840. The two items were in exceptional condition with fantastic provenance.
